Inside the ransacked Pakistani mansion where Osama bin Laden was killed, blood was splattered on the floor, bed linens were in disarray, and ABC News captured it in photos and video, scoring the first big exclusive of the aftermath.

The morning after President Obama announced that Bin Laden had been killed by U.S. special forces near Pakistan's capital of Islamabad, the network broadcast footage from inside the mansion on "Good Morning America." ABC correspondent Nick Schifrin, who has been stationed in Pakistan for years, appeared on the morning telecast and said that he had just returned from a tour inside the compound and reported that the pictures and video showed the Abbottabad compound where the raid took place.

"Looking at the video, it's a good TV moment," Schifrin said in a phone interview with the Los Angeles Times. "There's something about seeing it all for yourself."

Osama bin Mohammed bin Awad bin Laden (Arabic: أسامة بن محمد بن عوض بن لادن‎, ʾUsāmah bin Muḥammad bin ʿAwaḍ bin Lādin; March 10, 1957 – May 2, 2011)[1][2][3] was the founder of the jihadist organization al-Qaeda, responsible for the September 11 attacks on the United States and numerous other mass-casualty attacks against civilian and military targets. Bin Laden was on the American Federal Bureau of Investigation's lists of Ten Most Wanted Fugitives and Most Wanted Terrorists for his involvement in the 1998 US embassy bombings.[4][5][6] From 2001 to 2011, bin Laden and his organization had been major targets of the War on Terror.

On May 1, 2011, U.S. President Barack Obama ordered a raid of bin Laden's suspected location in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The operation was successfully carried out by United States Navy SEALs, with intelligence support from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).[2][7] During the 40 minute raid, bin Laden was shot in the head by the SEALs, the wounds of which were fatal. The SEALs commenced with intelligence searches of the building after which his body was taken into custody. Genetic testing and facial recognition were performed to positively identify bin Laden and his body was deposited into the sea for burial less than 24 hours after death

In 1974, at the age of 17, Osama married Najwa Ghanem at Latakia. According to CNN national security correspondent David Ensore, as of 2002 Osama had married four women and fathered roughly 25 or 26 children.[26] Other sources report that he has fathered anywhere from 12 to 24 children.

Mohammed bin Laden was killed in 1967 in an airplane crash in Saudi Arabia when his American pilot misjudged a landing.[28] Osama's eldest half-brother, Salem bin Laden, the subsequent head of the bin Laden family, was killed in 1988 near San Antonio, Texas in the United States, when he accidentally flew a plane into power lines.

The FBI described Osama bin Laden as tall and thin, between 6'4" and 6'6" (193– 198 cm) in height and weighing about 165 pounds (75 kg). Interviewees of Lawrence Wright, on the other hand, describe him as quite slender, but not particularly tall. He had an olive complexion and was left-handed, usually walking with a cane. He wore a plain white turban and no longer donned the traditional Saudi male headdress. Bin Laden was described as soft-spoken and mild mannered in demeanor.

Many of bin Laden's children went to Iran after the September 11 attacks and as of 2010 Iranian authorities reportedly continued to control their movement.

News: It off course is a current hot news item, so I want to know the latest news: is he really dead? What happened? Who killed him? Those kind of questions spring to mind.
Videos and pictures: I want to see what is going on, so videos would be nice and off course we want to see pictures.
History and related stuff: Why is this Osama Bin Laden so important? What makes it that people are dancing on the streets because he died?
User friendliness: Finally friendliness, how nice is the page that I am looking at, did they “get” my user intent and is it showing me the stuff I want to see?
Social: Finally we off course are looking for social integration. Have our friends noticed the news already?

The first look

News articles

So we start off early in the morning when the news has just broken. Google Trends doesn’t have any clue of what is going on at that time, but Google does. They have 13,3 million results ready for us, where Bing has 7.09 million. The search giant places a Google News block on top of the results. Bing not surprisingly does the same.

Google brings ‘only’ three major sources and then a lot of related articles after the click. They also show over 51000 realtime search results. That is, they are showing the link to the real time updates, not the updates themselves.

Almost four hours later: what has changed?

I took another look almost four hours later to see if the engines had changed anything. On both engines the results look similar to earlier this morning. The News-blocks are on top again, followed by the Wikipedia result.

Google still has five news related articles there, even though they are not all the same as this morning. Bing still only has one. But Bing does have the official Whitehouse page, with Obama’s statement on it there, which is a very nice move.

The biggest change definitely is on Bing and has everything to do with videos The “Videos of Osama Bin Laden” now shows four new videos. There is an ABC News video and three different videos with the President’s statement, from CNN, CNBC and Reuters. So Bing did a really good job there. What is interesting is that Bing seems to be placing the length of the video below it, but that actually is not the length, but the time the video was pushed out.

Social

First something I noticed on both search engines, which is not specific for this search, but something more in general. Both Google and Bing do not have a “share” option. Not for a specific result, but also not for the search in general.

When it comes to Bing’s results and social we can be very clear about that: there is nothing social here. No connections, no Facebook results (Why not? They have a deal with Facebook after all!) and no Twitter connection whatsoever.

Google has its social circle results in there. Even though it is pushed down to the bottom of the page, at least it is there.

User experience

Overall it again looks like Google and Bing are pretty close to each other. But also again the overall “feel” of the Bing results is better. They seem more up-to-date without them maybe actually being that much more up-to-date.

Multi-lingual actor Abbas is all set to make a comeback in Sandalwood after ten years

Born in Kolkata, brought up in Bangalore, educated in Mumbai and settled in Chennai — that’s actor Abbas’ description in short. The multi-lingual actor is flooded with offers from Tamil, Telugu and Kannada industries and is all excited about returning to the Kannada industry after ten years.

The good looking actor is playing a pivotal role in the Kannada movie Appu and Pappu, which will hit the screens in May. The film features an orang-utan for the first time in the history of Indian cinema.

“When I heard the script of Appu and Pappu, it sounded interesting and hence, I became a part of the film. I am touched by the warmth of the film unit. Our journey to Cambodia for shooting was really fun and we bonded like a family,” recalls Abbas.

Is the movie inspired from the Hollywood flick Dunston Checks In? “Yes, but the storyline is totally different. Dunston... deals with comedy, but Appu... is about the sentiments of a father and mother,” avers Abbas.

The talented artiste is also acting in Ramdev, which will be produced in Tamil and Telugu. Directed by S K Basheed, the movie is slated to release in May. “Ramdev is a love triangle with a new concept, which has shades of the Bollywood hit Dhadkan,” he reveals. He is also busy with another Tamil and Telugu consignment Chori Chori, the shooting for which will finish in a few days.

“My journey in this glittery world started in 1994 and it’s been really interesting and memorable. I have acted with almost all the great artistes like Rajnikanth, Kamal Hassan, Ajith and Madhavan and have learnt many things from them,” he says modestly.
He is all praises for Sandalwood. “Kannada industry is now full of young blood and innovative ideas. Some experiments are also going on which is a positive trend,” he feels.

When asked about the secret behind his good physique, he replies, “I do yoga everyday for an hour and go cycling on Sundays for nearly 40 kilometres. I also play football and visit the gym frequently. These things help me keep fit.”

50 city cinemas theatres to show IPL matches

It is cricket-ainment time at cinema halls across India, with nearly 650 screens gearing up for live telecasts of Indian Premier League (IPL) matches, which will begin from Friday and continue for more than six weeks. Sources said that the final number of screens could cross 700. Cine-goers will get to watch matches without commercial breaks and also avail of other incentives. Topmost among them is master-blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s autographed bat, which will be circulated across all cinemas and later auctioned. Sanjay Gaikwad, of UFO Moviez, said, “A bat Tendulkar has used will be auctioned off.’’ The funds will go to Apnalaya, an NGO endorsed by him.

Tendulkar also auctioned off the first theatre ticket for the matches. From a base price of Rs 5 lakh it went for Rs 11 lakh. The money will also go to Apnalaya. Tendulkar said, “This is a very good initiative and if high-content cricket reaches the remotest areas of the country more and more youngsters will be encouraged to play the game.’’

In Mumbai, about 50 cinema halls will screen matches, including Cinemax, New Excelsior, Roxy, Meghraj (Vashi), Gem (Bandra), Inox, Fame, PVR, Big and Broadway (Kandivli).

While the cinemas are geared up for the games, there is a small hitch in opening the a dva n c e b o o k - ings. Inox cinemas’ vice-president (marketing) Harshvardhan Gangurde said, “We are all set, but await a formal notification from the state government on taxes. Otherwise, things are in place.’’ There will be no entertainment tax exemption on IPL tickets. Gaikwad added, “The government will be charging about 20 to 34%, which is the same for any film ticket.’’ Sources said tickets would cost Rs 250 to Rs 300, the cost of an average movie ticket on weekends.

Some cinemas will offer alcohol. Devang Sampat, vice president, Cinemax Cinemas, said, “Corporate bookings have started and we are offering alcohol with them.’’

Most team sponsors have already done block bookings for the entire IPL season. A source said, “There is a lot of demand for Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians, who probably have the maximum sponsors on board. Last season, KKR matches got the maximum eyeballs. With Tendulkar in tremendous form, there will definitely be a mad rush for his matches too.’’ Cinemas will offer cricketing merchandise and have cheerleaders, celebrities and live bands. Gaikwad said, “We are trying to bring the stadium into the theatre. There are lot of small towns where bookings are full and we have to add screens. In Nagpur it’s house-full even before the tournament begins.’’ In some states, including Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, cinema halls will not be able to screen the matches as film producers have objected because there would be fewer screens to show local movies. Oscar producers urge viewers to tune in early

LOS ANGELES – The people behind Sunday's Oscars show are urging people to tune in early for one of the program's best sequences.

Bill Mechanic, who is producing the awards ceremony with Adam Shankman, promised "the most dynamic opening, from drama to spectacle to humor, that has ever been staged."

Shankman said the show will be funny, lively and fun.

"People hate it when I say this," he said, "but I always say this is the best-dressed reality competition show on TV."

The two men joined film academy President Tom Sherak on the red carpet outside the Kodak Theatre for a brief news conference Friday about the big show.

Dismissing a gloomy weather forecast, Sherak said definitively that it will not rain at Oscar time. Mechanic quipped that it would "rain humor." And Shankman said that when you produce the Oscars, there's no one you can't call, so "I just called God."

"Like everything in Hollywood, it's a negotiation," he said.

The show will be heavy on humor, thanks to the hosting duo of Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin, Mechanic said, adding that the Oscar show hasn't had two hosts since 1928.

Expect "greater emotional content" too, he said: "We want this to touch people."

The Oscar honchos also announced a new round of presenters: Tom Hanks, Robin Williams, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Sarah Jessica Parker, Demi Moore, Zoe Saldana and Pedro Almodovar will appear on the telecast. And they urged viewers to tune in at the top of the program, which begins at 8 p.m. EST and will be broadcast on ABC

Alexander, who had brain surgery seven years ago, died hours after Macclesfield's League Two (fourth division) defeat at Notts County on Tuesday night.

He had been involved in football for more than 35 years, initially as a player with Grimsby Town, Stockport County and Mansfield Town along with many non-League clubs and played international football for St Lucia.

He then became the first black manager in the Football League when he took over at Lincoln City in 1993 before spells at Peterborough and then Macclesfield.

Next Saturday's game against Hereford United would have been his 100th with the Cheshire club.

"He was a larger than life character -- an honest man, a splendid man and he will be missed by people in all walks of life," assistant manager Gary Simpson told Sky Sports News

திருவண்ணாமலை, மார்ச் 2: தனியார் டி.வி. சேனலில் சுவாமி நித்யானந்தர் தொடர்பான பாலியல் படக்காட்சிகள் ஒளிபரப்பானதை அடுத்து திருவண்ணாமலை நித்யானந்தர் ஆசிரமம் முன் இந்து மக்கள் கட்சியினர் செவ்வாய்க்கிழமை இரவு ரகளையில் ஈடுபட்டனர். இதனால் அங்கு போலீசார் குவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.

திருவண்ணாமலையில் பிறந்தவரான சுவாமி நித்யானந்தர் தனது சொற்பொழிவுகளால் உலகம் முழுவதும் புகழ் பெற்றவர். அவருக்கு ஏராளமான பக்தர்கள் உள்ளனர். திருவண்ணாமலையிலும், கர்நாடக மாநிலம் பெங்களூரிலும் அவருக்கு ஆசிரமங்கள் உள்ளன.

திருவண்ணாமலை மாவட்ட இந்து மக்கள் கட்சித் தலைவர் சிவபாபு தலைமையில் அக்கட்சியினர் திடீரென ஆசிரமம் முன் வந்து நித்யானந்தருக்கு எதிராகக் குரல் எழுப்பினர்.

அவரது பேனரையும் சிலர் கிழிக்க முயன்றனர்.

இதையடுத்து சிவபாபு உள்ளிட்டவர்களை போலீஸôர் அழைத்துச் சென்றனர். இதனால் அப்பகுதியில் பரபரப்பு நிலவியது.

People belonging to Bidadi village and surroundings, about 35 km from here attacked an 'ashram' belonging to a 'young swamiji' after a television channel showed shots of him in a compromising position with an actres today.

A large number of local people thronged the sprawling ashram of Swami Nityananda on the outskirts of the city after the TV expose of his 'sex acts', smashed the front office and tore down the flex material on which a large portrait of the Godman was printed, and burnt them.

Nityananda Swami, who is quite popular attracting a large number of devotees with his lucid style of interpreting philosophies of life and makes appearances on TV channels, was purportedly shown on the channel in a compromising position.

A footage showing the Swamiji in compromising position with a popular Tamil actress was released by Sun News on Tuesday, Mar 2, leading to violence at the Swamiji's ashrams. The video showed that the man is Swami Nithyananda. However, the woman's face is blurred and the identity of the actress is yet to be confirmed.

The video, which came as a massive shock to the godman's followers, has led to widespread protests. In Coimbatore, angry followers took to streets and vandalised property.

"He is missing," said Devaraj, Deputy Superintendent of Police of Ramanagaram district, under whose limits the ashram is located at Bidadi near Bangalore.

The Bangalore-based ashram manager Sevananda today filed a complaint with police, stating he had received calls from Chennai, threatening to expose the alleged sleazy activities of Swami, in his early thirties, hailing from Thiruvanamalai in Tamil Nadu.

In the complaint, Sevananada said the caller threatened to provide the "footage" to the media and had demanded money not to release it. Sevananada said the clippings showing Swami in poor light are "morphed".

The ashram has several branches across India and 13 abroad.

After the video clippings were aired, many people gathered before the ashram.

Meanwhile at Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, said a committee would be formed to look into what action can be taken into the incident.

Endorsing the view that such incidents involving self-styled godmen are "on the rise" in the state, he said the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department "will see what action can be taken in such cases."

Meanwhile, activists of "Jaya Karnataka" an organisation founded by former underworld don Muthappa Rai, damaged banners and buntings and window panes of the ashram building, alleging that Rai's name was being misused to threaten some devotees.

Police said they have rushed forces to protect properties of the ashram and are yet to register a case.

Six advocates of the Madras High Court filed a complaint with the Chennai police commissioner, seeking action against Nityananda. Rama Sivasankar, one of the advocates, said they had sought action under Sec 294(b) IPC, which relates to obscenity.

Earlier, protests broke out in different parts of Tamil Nadu, demanding the arrest of Swami and closure of his ashrams in various parts of the state and country.

The protesters burnt his effigies in Coimbatore and Kumbakonam, while some of Swami's posters were torn down in Tiruvannamalai.

At Coimbatore, various groups including Hindu Makkal Katchi and Periyar Dravida Kazhagam staged protests. About 25 persons were arrested for trying to burn his effigy.

Nithyananda has a big following in India, and in many countries around the world, including Malaysia and the US.

அசல் – திரை விமர்சனம்

கிளாடியேட்டர் என்றொரு படம். ராஜா தன் மகனை நம்பாமல் தளபதியிடம் பொறுப்புகளை ஒப்படைப்பார். அது தெரிந்த மகன் தந்தையை கொன்றுவிட்டு, தளபதியின் குடும்பத்தை அழித்துவிட்டு, தளபதியை ஒரு கிளாடியேட்டராய் அலைய விட்டுவார். மகனின் கொடுங்கோல் ஆட்சியை எதிர்த்து புரட்சி செய்த தளபதி எப்படி ஆட்சியை பிடிக்கிறான் என்பதுதான் கிளாடியேட்டர் கதை.

அப்பா அஜித் தன் மனைவிக்கு பிறந்த மகன்களை நம்பாமல், கீப்புக்கு பிறந்த மகனான அஜித்திற்கு சொத்தை எழுதி வைத்துவிட, அஜித்தின் பாசத்தை புரிந்து கொள்ளாமல் அவரிடம் உதவியை பெற்றுக் கொண்டு அவரையே கொன்றுவிட, எப்படி அஜித் வெற்றி பெறுகிறார் என்பதே அசலின் கதை.
படம் முழுக்க ப்ரான்சிலும், மலேசியாவிலும் படமாக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. ஆல்மொஸ்ட் ஒரு ஜேம்ஸ் பாண்ட் பட டைப்பில் ஒரு ஆக்‌ஷன், சேசிங் என்று ஆரம்பிக்கிறது படம். சேசிங் முடிந்தது, ஜேம்ஸ்பாண்ட் பட ஸ்டைலிலேயே சமீரா ஒரு பாட்டூ பாடுகிறார். அஜித்தின் அறிமுகமும், அதற்கான பில்டப்புகளும் அஜீத்தின் ஸ்கிரீன் ப்ரெசென்சும் அட்டகாசம், பல காட்சிகளில் பில்லாவின் தாக்கம் அதிகம்.

அஜித், படம் முழுக்க வியாபித்திருக்கிறார். நிஜமாகவே அந்த சிகார் பிடிக்கும் ஸ்டைலும், சண்டைக்காட்சிகளில் இருக்கும் கேசுவலான பாடி லேங்குவேஜும் நன்றாகவே இருக்கிறது. பல இடங்களில் அவரின் காஸ்ட்யூமும், ஸ்டைலிஷான ஹேர்ஸ்டைலும், அதிகம் பேசாத சின்ன, சின்ன பாடி லேங்குவேஜுலும் கலக்குகிறார். ஹைஸ்பீடில் அடிக்கடி நடக்கும்போது எரிச்சல் வராமல் இருப்பது ஆச்சர்யமாக இருக்கிறது.
பிரான்ஸில் அஜித்தின் நிழலாய் சமீரா ரெட்டி. கொஞ்சம் மெலிந்து இன்னும் க்யூட்டாக இருக்கிறார். சில காட்சிகளில் அழகில்லாமல் இருக்கிறார். நடிப்பதற்கு பெரிதாக ஏதும் வாய்பில்லை. பாவனா வழக்கமான தமிழ் சினிமா ஹீரோயின் போல் ஒரு லூசுப் பெண்ணாய் அறிமுகமாகி நெடுக அதே போல் நடிக்கிறார்.

வில்லன்களாக சம்பத், ராஜிவ் கிருஷ்ணா, பிரதீப் ராவத், கெல்லி. இதில் கெல்லியை தவிர மற்றவர்கள் ரொம்பவே சோப்ளாங்கி வில்லன்கள். யூகிசேது அபூர்வ சகோதரர்கள் ஜனகராஜ் ரேஞ்சில் ஒரு டான் கேரக்டரை செய்திருக்கிறார். ஆங்காங்கே சிரிக்க வைக்கிறார். பழைய ஹீரோ சுரேஷ் பிரெஞ்சு போலீஸாய் வில்லன்களில் ஒரு ஆளாய் வருகிறார். க்ளைமாக்ஸில் அவர் அப்படியே குண்டு கட்டாய் மாறுவது படு பழைய சினிமா.
கதை, திரைக்கதை, வசனத்தில் அஜித்குமாரின் பெயரும் சரண், யூகிசேதுவுடன் போடப்படுகிறது. அஜித் ஒரு அஸிஸ்டெண்ட் டைரக்டராகவும் பணியாற்றி இருக்கிறார். யூகிசேது, அஜித் காம்பினேஷன் ஏற்கனவே வில்லன் பட ஹிட்டடித்திருப்பதால் ஒரு எதிர்பார்ப்பு இருக்கவே செய்தது. ஆனால் திரைக்கதையில் இரண்டாவது பாதியில் மொக்கை வில்லன்களால் பெரிதாய் ஏதும் ஆர்வத்தை ஏற்படுத்தவில்லை என்பது வருத்தமே. முழுக்க,முழுக்க அஜித்தை மட்டுமே நம்பி எடுக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறபடியால் மற்ற விஷயங்களில் கவனக்குறைவு அதிகம்.
பிரசாந்தின் கேமரா, பிரான்ஸையும், மலேசியாவையும், கண் குளிர அழகாய் படமெடுத்திருக்கிறார். ஆரம்ப சேஸிங் காட்சியாகட்டும், மும்பை கடலோர போட் துரத்தலாகட்டும் நச். பல இடங்களில் இவரது அழகான பிரேமிங்கினால் படம் தொய்வில்லாமல் தெரிகிறது என்றால் அது மிகையில்லை.

கதை, திரைக்கதை, வசனம், இயக்கம் சரண். ரிச்சான லொக்கேஷன், அஜித், சிவாஜி ப்ரொடக்‌ஷன் என்று எல்லாமே கிடைத்திருக்கும் பட்சத்தில் இன்னும் கொஞ்சமேனும் மெனக்கெட்டிருக்கலாம். டெக்னிகலாய் படம் நன்றாக இருந்தாலும், உள்ளடக்க கதையும், திரைக்கதையும் பழசாய் இருப்பதால் விறுவிறு என போக வேண்டிய படம் ப்ளாட்டாக போகிறது. அதிலும் க்ளைமாக்ஸ் மனோகரா சீன் எல்லாம் கொஞ்சம் ஓவர்தான். இதையெல்லாம் மீறி அஜித்தினாலும், ப்ரசெண்டேஷனாலும், எரிச்சல் வராமல் இருக்கிறது என்பது உண்மை. அஜித்துக்கான சரியான ரீமேக் படத்தை சொல்கிறேன் முடிந்தால் அடுத்த படமாய் அதை எடுக்கலாம் ஹிந்தி படமான “ரேஸ்”

God doesn't exist, proved by survey

A Christian advertising campaign in the UK has declared that “God doesn't exist”, its own recent survey numbers says that 96 percent voted that they didn’t believe in the Almighty.

The multi-million pound drive for, The Alpha Course posed the question "Does God Exist?".

It urged people to consider the evidence before going online to choose the option "Yes", "No" or "Probably".

It is found that more than 88,000 responded to the posters and adverts.

The poll result on the Christian website met with a surprising result showing 96 percent insisting ‘there was no God’.

Only three per cent said they did believe, and remaining one per cent were unsure about God.

The Mysskin-Kamal Haasan project is shaping up quite well. The latest reports on this venture, as mentioned by a popular Tamil magazine, are that it is based on the quest for Lord Buddha’s tooth.The story, we hear, is based on Lord Buddha’s tooth that still remains in a Temple in Sri Lanka. There is a popular belief that the land in which the tooth is housed would flourish and due to this there was a severe competition among the kings and wars ensued killing scores of people. This tooth was originally with the Kalinga Kings and after several wars it had finally landed in Sri Lanka.It is still unclear if the story is a period film set in the 500 BC, when it had happened or it would be interwoven with the present day situation. In all probabilities the film’s backdrop could be Sri Lanka.

Box-office results for this Diwali!

Among the Diwali releases of this year, the front runner is Suriya starrer ‘Aadhavan’. Chennai Box-office collection of this Sun Pictures production in Chennai alone for October 17th and 18th is 54 lakhs. In fact this is more, when we compare Aadhavan’s revenue with the collection generated by ‘Kanthaswamy’ and ‘Unnaipol Oruvan’ in it’s first two days.

‘Peranmai’, the action entertainer of ‘Jayam’ Ravi which was released one day before Diwali is in the second place as of now! And the revenue the film generated in the first three days is 26 lakhs. But, when we see the hype created before the film’s release, this returns is very less. And, as ‘Peranmai is getting good remarks from the audience, distributors feel that there is a bright probability for ‘Peranmai’ to push ‘Aadhavan’ back.

‘Jaganmohini’, the old wine with Namitha as its glossy new bottle is the third in the Diwali race! The film has earned 11 lakhs in the first two days of its release.

‘Unnaipol Oruvan’ has touched 4.26 crores at the end of the 4th week after its release. Since it managed to earn just 2.4 lakhs on 17th and 18th of October, the film was pushed to 4th place.

Can you label ‘Aadhavan’ as ‘Red Signal’ in Surya’s career? Not definitely, but towards some extent. The actor kept us intact with his exceptional endeavors all throughout his career by working with great directors. But this time, he fails to deliver a right film from his favorite filmmaker K.S. Ravikumar.

A very old story, which we would’ve seen more than 100 times over the screens – A contract killer assigned to bump off a magistrate yet to reveal the list of baddies involved in conniving acts of illegally transplanting the organs of poor and underprivileged children. But does he actually carry on the task or turn against the baddies? For sure, you’ll have the right guesses if you are an ardent buff of Tamil Cinema.

What would our hero do now? Instantaneously, jump into the right conclusion of devastating the plans of baddies and put them into death.

But then, this is not something we expect from Surya. The actor had enthralled us with a big note in ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’ and ‘Ayan’. But with an attempt of reaching towards B and C audiences, the actor fails to capture our interests

Let’s start off with the film’s synopsis first and later analyze it in simple terms.

Aadhavan (Surya), a stunning sharpshooter is assigned by Dr. Abdullah (Rahul Dev) to kill a magistrate (Murali) as he would soon reveal the group of fraudulent groups involved in illegal organ racketeers, who’ve killed numerous children from hill side communities. Aadhavan gets into the house of Judge and manages to become cordial with family members. The only person who knows about his cloak and dagger mission is the house cook (Vadivelu).

But at a certain point, mysteries get unraveled about family’s past and unforgotten relationships.

Surya does his job well being a director’s actor. That’s fine and how an actor should be actually. But K.S. Ravikumar has exploited him very badly by offering unapt aspects on him. The opening stunt sequences remind us much off Surya’s previous film ‘Ayan’ as well traveling across the countries to assassinate the victims. Nayanthara doesn’t expose her skin much and tries to make a decent attempt from saving her life in Kollywood. Unfortunately, her aged looks stops the young lads from admiring her. Vadivelu is the one and only consolation to all audiences. For sure, if he wasn’t there, the audiences would run out of theatres merely in the intermission. Murali’s last film goes much memorable while Rahul Dev’s goes unutilized as in his previous films. Why use him in stereotypical roles is a big question. Much evidently, Shayaji Shinde performs the same role and sleepwalks through it.

Harris Jayaraj’s musical score doesn’t entertain us grandly. Spare him for couple of songs ‘Dhamaku’ and ‘Hasili’. Surya puts his earnest efforts on choosing best costumes, but delivers the same dance steps for almost all the songs. He has to work a lot on it for being more perfect.

Cinematography with Digital Intermediate(DI) is quite moderate with songs, but most of the talkie portions are shot with Blue matte graphics which looks odd.

K.S. Ravikumar fails to entertain us as we could hear the audiences howling the front seats – Dae Enna Da Nadakudhu… Vetthu Padam idhu’ & Govinda Govinda Govinda yells the elite group towards the second half of the film.

With more special shows screens all over the globe, the film will get more collections in box office much prior to newspapers would publish the reviews and so with the TV channels.

Botton - Line: Unapt film for Surya

I saw the movie today..

Jeyam Ravi's acting was brilliant. He has did an excellent job. But the shots were the Foreigners were showed like fools(the scenes in which our hero is only 10ft away from them and keep running sideways unnoticed) made us to laugh into stream.
But the pace of the movie is good with good background scores by Vidhyasagar.
Not much to say about Vadivelu.
The 5 girls have done a decent job. Low level graphics at the end could have been made a bit better.
An ordinary NCC trainer with extra-ordinary talents and knowledge is unbelievable.
The location is good with the original view of a reserved forest.
Director must be appreciated for his different effort.
Overall its a good movie for a one time watch

Kamal on why he declined Quick Gun Murugan

Kamal Haasan revealed that he was initially offered the lead role in Quick Gun Murugan, but he declined the offer as it was not a novel concept in South India. The actor said that though some scripts are good or excellent they simply do not translate into a movie due to poor market demands. Kamal said that he regrets such situations as he could not make films that are close to his heart.

He was quoted as saying, “I would rate that as one of the biggest regrets of my life. Over the years, I have liked many scripts but they just couldn’t materialize into films. I feel sad that many times I couldn’t do films due to market demands; there were scripts begging to be made. I think not doing those good scripts amounts to infanticide.”

Vikram gets Selvaraghavan to shelve Malai Nerathu Mayakkam(mkm)

Kanden Kadhalai featuring Bharath and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead roles is all set to hit the screens on October 30 worldwide. Sun Pictures which has acquired the distribution rights of the movie has announced the release date. Kanden Kadhalai was censored last week and has got a ‘U’ certificate.

Kanden Kadhalai is directed by R.Kannan of Jayam kondaan movie fame. The film is a remake of the Hindi blockbuster, Jab We Met which featured Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor.

Ravi has lost weight for the role of a forest officer in this film and, learnt martial arts and archery. He plays a one-man army, similar to that of Sylvester Stallone in 'Rambo', for this Diwali release. Vasundra, Saranya, Varsha, Tanusika and Liyasree play the lead female roles.

'Peranmai' is produced by Ayngaran International, a production house that gives grandeurs. This 18 crores worth project will have some good technical stuff like helicopter cameras being for the first time in Tamil cinema.

Vijay has commenced shooting for his 50th film 'Sura' in Kerala. The movie is directed by S P Raajkumar and produced by Sangili Murugan.

Interestingly, it was Sangili Murugan who had produced the actor’s blockbuster 'Kadhalukku Mariyadhai' a decade ago.Raajkumar, who directed a couple of comedy capers ('En Purushan Kuzhandhai Madhiri' and 'Ponmanam') earlier, recently churned out 'Azhagarmalai' starring RK.

Tamannah plays the ladylove of Vijay in the movie which has Vadivelu in it. Manisharma has been roped in to score the music. The movie features Vijay playing the role of a fisherman........

Divya Spandana’s rude behavior during the shooting of the Kannada film Just Maath Maathalli seems to have irked the dancers. This is not the first time that the actress is making it to the headlines for her rude behavior. A few days ago, she got into an argument with the media persons during a press meet resulting in the press boycotting the meeting.

Sources from the film unit say that Divya’s behavior while filming a song was so rude that the dancers and the choreographer were shocked. The actress also threatened to walk out of the shoot if the song was not re-shot.

The Karnataka Choreographers and Dancers’ Association complained about this to the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce and she was finally made to apologize to the association.
