France, that crashed in the Atlantic Ocean on 1 June 2009. After discovery of wreckage on 2 June, it is presumed that none of the 228 people aboard survived. The aircraft was carrying 216 passengers and 12 crew members in two cabins of service.

Air France flight AF447 from Rio de Janeiro to Paris went down with 228 people aboard. Debris from the Airbus SAS A330-200 aircraft was found about 650 kilometers (405 miles) northeast of Brazil’s Fernando de Noronha island.
