Like Father, Like Son

Sunday, May 25, 2008 |

This is going to be very much unbelievable for many of those reading this news. Actor Murali’s son is all set to debut as a hero in a movie. Watching Murali – who churned out hits after hits such as Puthu Vasantham, Idhayam, Sundara Travels – playing hero roles all these days, we never realised the actor has reached the age at which point one starts thinking about his child’s career move. And Murali has decided that his son will become a film hero like him, as Murali has finally found some subject in which his son can make a debut.

Vijay, actor Murali’s son, is six feet tall and handsome, and is a first-year engineering student (electronics and communication). For long, almost all the producers of Kollywood have been trying to draw Vijay into their project. But Murali is a protective father. After carefully scrutinizing scripts that came his son’s way all these days, he has picked one that he thinks favours his son’s debut. The film has not yet been named. This film will be produced by Ramanathan, the producer behind films like Nadigan and Thirumathi Pazhanisami. A debutant director, Vishnu Shankar will direct this film.

Since Murali’s son and Ilayathalapathy of Kollywood share names, it has been decided that Murali’s son will don a new screen name, which will be decided pretty soon. The shooting for the film begins on June 10, 2008 and the producers are bent on finishing it before Vijay’s college reopens.

It is to be noted that Murali is acting as a hero in a film called Engal Rasi Nalla Rasi. After completion of this movie, he will do dual roles (as father and son) in Maruavatharam. Really, Murali is one of the “relentlessly young” actors of Tamil Cinema.
