In that line, the city has been revelling with the most-happening Hollywood movies these days – Iron Man and Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. Both the Tamil dubbed and original versions of these movies have done well so far.
Iron Man, released on May 2, 2008, was about a multi-millionaire who turns into a super-hero after a few life-changing incidents. The film served as a summer bonus for the filmgoers.
And now, release of Chronicles of Narnia’s sequel is the latest bonanza. It is about four siblings who get transported to the land of Narnia, a magic land where animals can talk and trees can walk. The siblings are returning to this land after one year and are very eager to see the land that they rescued from the evil queen (in the first part). But to their horror, they find that their one year is equivalent to 1300 years in Narnian time and the legacy they left behind has been destroyed. They find that Evil King Miraz rules the land ruthlessly and has exiled Caspian, the real heir to the throne. Now they have to and save this land again.
In Hollywood, Iron Man had a very big impact and outperformed The Chronicles of Narnia sequel, but in Tamil Nadu, both of them are doing well. Sometimes movies that do not do well in Hollywood do good business in Tamil Nadu. For example, Hellboy and Van Helsing, which did average business in U.S., were big hits in Chennai.
So it shows that Tamils love comics more than any other race!
